Authorities have fined Rick Ross and his family members for violating labor laws at five Mississippi Wingstop locations.
Feds Fine Rick Ross For Labor Law Violations
XXL reports that Boss Wing Enterprises is accused of making employees pay for background checks and safety training. The feds also accuse Ross making employees pay for their uniforms and cash register shortage.
Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division announced that $114,427 “in back wages, liquidated damages and civil penalties” was collected from Wingstop locations in the state-operated restaurants.
Feds also collected $51,674 in liquidated damages and back wages for over 200 employees. Feds also recovered an assessment of $65, 753 in civil fines.
Restaurant industry employees work hard, often for low wages, and many depend on every dollar earned to make ends meet,” said Wage and Hour Division District Director Audrey Hall in Jackson, Mississippi.
Hall continued:
The law prevents Boss Wing Enterprises LLC from shifting operating costs to workers by deducting the costs of uniforms, cash register shortages or training expenses, or to allow a worker’s pay to fall below the minimum wage rate.
Rick Ross Responds
Rozay took to Instagram with a 30 second video and addressed the situation. Sitting by a piano wearing a Balmain sweater, the rapper stated in part:
When you running a business there will be mistakes,” he stated.
The 46-year-old continued to say:
But as the biggest boss you never make the same mistake twice.
He continued to say “taking accountability” is important, and he will use this experience as a “stepping stone.”
Rick Ross currently owns 30 Wingstop locations.
